Patient Safety & Infection Control Sterling, VA

Dr. Kavianpour and the dental care team at Brighter Smiles in Sterling, VA maintains an ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our patients. We have always followed guidelines and recommendations of the ADA, CDC and OSHA for infection control and have augmented these practices in response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

We want all patients to have a safe and pleasant experience when visiting with us and go above and beyond typical requirements to minimize the risk of infection or the spread of disease.

We have made some changes to our office and our typical procedures to minimize contact and prevent the spread of infection. Some of these changes will be noticeable upon entering our waiting room.

Dr. Kavianpour will be scheduling patients farther apart to limit the number of people in our office at any given time. This is also to allow for more intensive cleaning after each patient has been in an operator and throughout the office daily.

We ask that if you are sick or have been exposed to the coronavirus that you call our office to reschedule your appointment. If you have recently traveled please wait at least 14 days after returning to visit our office. These rules will remain in place until it is no longer a recommendation of the CDC or any local governing bodies and are designed to protect all patients and staff.

COVID-19 Protocols: what to expect

We hope that you feel confident in visiting our office and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the changes we have made and how they will impact your patient experience. Please call us to discuss your concerns as needed. New infection control practices will include:

  • Contactless check-in and required use of a mask when moving around the office.
  • Hand sanitizer will be used upon entering the office by all patients.
  • We will conduct a brief health screening and take your temperature with a digital thermometer upon arrival.
  • All staff will be wearing appropriate PPE at all times and changing protective wear between patients.
  • We use HEPA air filtration for air quality control and to reduce the spread of airborne pathogens throughout the office.
  • Aerosol reducing technology will be used when needed for your treatment or procedure.
